YouTube "False Positive" Reporting Form
("YouTube Video Identification")

PFIR - People For Internet Responsibility

As part of ongoing research regarding Digital Rights Management (DRM) issues, PFIR is collecting information from users of YouTube, who have received what they believe to be inappropriate or incorrect notices or reports from the YouTube/Google automated video "fingerprinting" system (called "YouTube Video Identification"), indicating that their uploaded videos would be removed (or would not be posted) due to perceived conflicts with video rights owners under the DMCA or other laws, regulations, rules, or the like.

If you have received such a report, please include on the form below as much information about your case as you feel comfortable providing, including any relevant URLs and information regarding any further notices from YouTube -- e.g., if you challenged/appealed a video takedown, what is the ongoing or final disposition? Any other info that will help me understand the situation would also be appreciated, especially why you feel that the YouTube system has treated your particular video submission in an incorrect or inappropriate manner.

You do not need to indentify yourself or provide an e-mail address unless you desire to do so. You can also e-mail the details to me at the address shown below if you wish. Either way, while I may discuss publicly various statistics and results derived from the aggregated information collected via this form and associated research, any specific details that you provide regarding your situation will be considered to be private and will be handled in accordance with the standard PFIR Privacy Policy. Thanks very much.
